JUNIOR MARKET STEER SHOW
SPECIAL RULES
RULE 1:
All entries in this department are subject to the General Rules Of the Harris County Fair and the Special Rules of the Junior Livestock Show.
RULE 2:
All steers must be tagged with an official Texas Validation Steer Tag approved by the Texas Education Agency Department of Agriculture Education and the Texas Agricultural Extension Service. See Important Dates. Additionally, each entry must have been recorded on a 4-H or FFA Steer Validation Form (completed by the County Steer Validation Committee) on the day of Validation.
RULE 3:
Minimum weight is 1000 pounds with no maximum.
RULE 4:
All steers will be clipped to have no more than 1/4” of hair on any part of the animal’s body upon arrival at the Fair Grounds. The only exception will be the tail switch. Steers will be checked at the time of classification, if they do not meet this 1/4” requirement, the exhibitor will have 30 minutes in a designated area to correct the problem. If violation is not corrected in the 30-minute time, the steer will be ineligible to compete and must be removed from the Fair Grounds. This time is allowed for touch-up only and any exhibitor arriving that has not made an effort to meet the1/4” rule will be disqualified. These cattle must also be removed from the Fair Grounds. The designated area will be the only place an exhibitor may use any clippers, electric or manual.
RULE 5:
Any steer that gets loose 3 times in class will be excluded
RULE 6:
Exhibitor must declare breed at weigh in. See Tentative Schedule of Events.
RULE 7:
The top three placing steers will be re-weighed in the class. Steers weighing 5 percent of turned in weight more or 5% less than original weigh in will be disqualified.
RULE 8:
Any steer sold through a livestock show auction since the beginning of the feeding period will be ineligible to show.
RULE 9:
Classes will be set at the discretion of the Steer Superintendent AND the Livestock Superintendent.
RULE 10:
Overall Grand and Reserve will sell in the Live Auction. All remaining steers will be put in sale order by the judge. First Five (5) steers after grand and reserve are picked will go to the Live Auction, unless in conflict with Rules #two(2) and three (3) in Jr. Auction Special Rules.
RULE 11:
Non-Sale steers will be released starting at 8:30 p. m. on Friday, October 22, 2010.
RULE 12:
No divisions steers, will only be broken by weight There be a 5% weigh back. No pumping of steers
This will be a straight market show no division
