HARRIS COUNTY
FAIR QUEEN PAGEANT
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this event is to select young ladies who are most representative of Harris County. That possess outstanding attributes of charm, personality, intelligence and beauty.
Fair Queen and Court shall attend various functions of the 2010 Harris County Fair throughout their reign and support the Fair when asked for assistance. They shall promote the principals of the Harris County Fair and The Houston Farm & Ranch .
FAIR QUEEN
Participants must be between the ages of 15 and 18 years of age and be enrolled in a high school. The Fair Queen is chosen by an interview and runway walk (each totaling 50% of their score). The Fair Queen will win a $1,000 College Scholarship payable to theTexas college of her choice. Should she not attend college, the first runner-up will receive the scholarship. The winner of Fair Queen title must layout the following year of competition.

QUEEN’S COURT
Queen’s Court consists of the following age groups and classifications:
• Tiny Miss Age 4 – 6
• Little Miss Age 7 – 10
• Junior Miss Age 11 – 14
Each of the above age group representatives will be chosen by way of a runway walk and a short interview on stage.
ENTRY FEE $20.00
MISS PHOTOGENIC
Miss Photogenic is chosen from photos submitted by Pageant participants of all age groups. Pageant Packets will detail photo contest requirements. To be eligible, a contestant must be entered in one of the above events.
ENTRY FEE $15.00 per Photo
FAIR SWEETHEART
Title will be awarded to the Pageant participant who submits the highest dollar amount for Class Sponsorships. Additional
information is in the Pageant packets. To be eligible, a contestant must be entered in one of the above events.
In addition to the entry fee, each contestant must have sponsorships of at least $25.00 for Fair Sweetheart category.
All Pageant participants will receive a Fair day pass. Each contestant will be required to show proof of age (Birth Certificate) as of September 1, 2010.
RULES:
FAIR QUEEN
Participant must arrive at the Pageant location by 8:00 a.m., Saturday, October 02, 2010 to check in and receive contestant packet.
Interview begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. Contestant will have an interview and runway walk.
TINY MISS, LITTLE MISS, and JUNIOR MISS
Participant must arrive at the Pageant location by 9:30 a.m., Saturday, October 02, 2010 to check in and receive contestant packet. Contestant will answer one question on stage at the end of runway walk. The contestant’s question is based on information taken from the completed MC sheet.
RUNWAY
Competition begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Competition will be approximately 2 minutes per contestant including question.
RUNWAY ATTIRE FOR ALL CONTESTANTS
Navy denim jeans (Unless accompanied by a document signed by a minister stating religious reasons, then a Navy denim skirt may be substituted) - No adornments, trim, beads, fringe, etc. on jeans or skirt – NO EXCEPTIONS. Boots and shirt of their choice. Hats optional.
SCORING
Scoring will be on a 1 – 10 basis in the following areas:
• Appearance, Presentation, Runway - Contestants will not be scored on any form of forced promenade, sauntering or
excessive hand gestures.
• Beauty - Naturalness, facial beauty
• Personality – Smile, eye contact
• Question - Tiny Miss, Little Miss and Junior Miss will answer one question on stage. The answer should not display talent, such as singing or dancing.
• Interview - Queen contestants only. Closed five-minute interview.
• Interview Attire – Queen contestant’s choice.
• Photogenic - Quality of the photo, natural beauty and presentation of character and mood.
JUDGES:
All judges are instructed to judge on the capability of the contestants according to age. All judges decisions are final and will NOT be up for review by contestants, parents, or leaders. All ties will be broken during a line up or remodeling.
IF FOR ANY REASON WINNERS IN ALL CATEGORIES CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN ALL ACTIVITIES; SHE MUST
RELINQUISH ALL GIFTS AND AWARDS TO THE RUNNER-UP. IN SITUATIONS WHERE DEEMED NECESSARY, THE
HARRIS COUNTY FAIR QUEEN PAGEANT CHAIRMAN AND THE PRESIDENT OF HOUSTON FARM AND RANCH
WILL MAKE THE FINAL DECISION.
