JUNIOR MARKET BROILER SHOW
SPECIAL RULES

RULE 1:
All entries in this department are subject to the General Rules of the Harris County Fair and Special Rules of the Junior Livestock Show.

RULE 2:
All orders will be from a straight run meaning orders will consist of both cockerels and pullets. Birds must be ordered and paid for by mailing required money to the Harris County Fair, # 1 Abercrombie Drive, Houston, Texas 77084. Orders must be placed in multiples of 25 birds per family. Money orders and checks should be made payable to the Harris County Fair. See Important Dates.

RULE 3:
All birds must be picked up at a time and place to be determined by the show management. See Important Dates.

RULE 4:
All entries will consist of three (3) birds of either sex. One entry per exhibitor.

RULE 5:
All entries will be sifted for quality. Only five (5) birds per carrying cage will be allowed in the
sifting area. Each exhibitor must remove all extra birds from the judging area after the first round of judging.

RULE 6:
No substitution allowed after sifting.

RULE 7:
This is a carrying cage show.

RULE 8:
The exhibitor must provide all litter, feed, and care.

RULE 9:
All judges’ assistants or helpers will be appointed by the Department Superintendent or authorized Chairman.

RULE 10:
All birds banded for Harris County Fair are eligible to be shown. Birds must have band on at time of show.

RULE 11:
All sifted birds must be removed from premises. Anyone caught dumping birds or leaving birds will be barred from future shows. See Rule 3 of General Rules and Regulations.

RULE 12:
No exhibitor, parent, 4-H leader, AST, or CEA will interfere with the Judge before, during, or after the judging.

RULE 13:
Sifting Birds – up to two (2) adults / one (1) exhibitor allowed to hold birds during sift.

RULE 14:
Showing birds for judging – Junior Exhibitors only

RULE 15:
Adults allowed in sifting line. No adults will be allowed in judging area.

RULE 16:
Top ten (10) Broiler Pens will go to Live Auction, unless in conflict with Rules #two(2) and three (3) in Jr. Auction Special Rules.

RULE 17:
The pens of broilers that do not go to Live Auction are to be removed from the Fair Grounds immediately after judging by the exhibitor. The Live Auction pens are to be moved to a designated area by completion of show. The live auction pens are to be taken home by the exhibitor after the completion of the Live Auction.

RULE18: All birds need to be harvested according to Texas Animal Health commission: Due to a recent clinical outbreak of Laryngotracheitis (ILT) in some backyard and commercial poultry shows this year. An Animal Health Commission representative may be contracting your County Shows officials to make this request.

Class 1 – Birds, pen of three (3) Class 2 – Grand Champion Class 3 – Reserve Grand Champion
