AGRICULTURAL MECHANICS SHOW
SPECIAL RULES

RULE 1:
All Agriculture Mechanics entries are subject to the General Rules of the Harris County Fair, General Agriculture Rules, and the Special Rules of the Agriculture Mechanics Show.

RULE 2:
Entries are limited to students who are members in good standing of a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter and who have conducted their projects under the supervision of a CEA, Club Leader or AST.

RULE 3:
FFA or 4-H’ers must have constructed projects exhibited either as a part of their agriculture mechanics instruction in Agriculture Science or as a part of their supervised Work Experience Program.

RULE 4:
If the entry was constructed as a group project at least one student who was involved in the construction must be enrolled in public or private elementary or secondary school at time of current Fair. The exhibit will be entered in that student’s name.

RULE 5:
A project can be exhibited only one time at the Harris County Fair. The exhibit must have been constructed during the
2009– 2010 school year or the beginning of the 2010– 2011 school year.

RULE 6:
All projects must be clean, painted, or treated and in a presentable condition even though they may have been used.

RULE 7:
Projects determined to be “Arts and Crafts” are not eligible in this department and must be entered in other appropriate
departments of the Fair.

RULE 8:
Any project that does not fit in one of the stated classes is not eligible to exhibit. The Harris County Fair reserves the right to move any entry into another Class or Division if it is deemed to fit there.

RULE 9:
Every precaution will be taken to protect the projects entered; however, neither the Harris County Fair nor Officials of this
committee will be responsible for any loss or damage to any exhibit.

RULE 10:
The Harris County Fair reserves the right to display entries as space and quantity allows. It is possible that large projects
may be displayed at an alternate location (including outdoors).

RULE 11:
A working plan, blue prints or drawing, or photographs showing construction and a bill of materials are required to be
submitted with each project entered. These must be enclosed in a three-ring notebook.

RULE 12:
Once the project is entered; the project cannot be removed or used until it has been released from the show.

RULE 13:
No more than six (6) participants per project.

RULE 14:
No late arrivals. Refer to show Schedule.

RULE 15:
An entry fee of $20.00 will be charged for each entry.

RULE 16:
Exhibitor cards supplied by Harris County Fair must be completely filled out.

RULE 17:
NO “FOR SALE” signs will be allowed.

RULE 18: JUDGING
Projects will be judged on the following system:
A. Workmanship 30 points
B. Design & Materials Used 20 points
C. Practicality 20 points
D. Degree of Difficulty 20 points
E. Finish 10 points

RULE 19: AWARDS
A. Rosettes and/or Ribbons will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
projects in each class.
B. Each Class winner in a division will compete for the Division Champion.
C. Each club and chapter is eligible for the Sweepstakes Award which is determined by the number and placing of the entries. The club or chapter winning sweepstakes will receive $200.00.
D. Additional prizes may be awarded.
