HORTICULTURE SHOW
SPECIAL RULES

RULE 1:
Baskets or containers are to be new and not decorated, except for Class 9.

RULE 2:
Entry forms must reflect correct name and the most accepted common names for the plant.

RULE 3:
ALL VEGETABLES MUST BE GROWN IN THE EXHIBITOR’S GARDEN, AND A SCRAPBOOK IS NEEDED WITH
GROWTH PROGRESS SHOWN.

RULE 4:
All dried leaves or damaged foliage must be removed before entering plants in the show.

RULE 5:
All ornamental entries must be owned and maintained by the exhibitor for a minimum of eight (8) weeks prior to the Fair.

RULE 6:
A diary with pictures must accompany all entries and must be signed by the CEA, AST, or FCCLA advisor. A minimum of five (5) photos showing different stages of the project must be included.

RULE 7:
Two Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion winners will be selected for the Junior Auction, one from each Division. If there is not a qualified entry for a division, there will be no entry going to auction.

RULE 8:
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE OF A SIZE NO LARGER THAN THE EXHIBITOR IS ABLE TO HAND CARRY INTO THE
EXHIBIT HALL. IF THE PROJECT DOES NOT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT, IT WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE
SHOW.

RULE 9:
All Grand and Reserve Champions and those whose vegetables are selected for Silent Auction will need to bring FRESH
VEGETABLES by 12:30 Saturday for the auctions.

CLASSES:
DIVISION I - ORNAMENTAL
Class 1: Hanging baskets
Class 2: Terrariums
Class 3: Dish and European Gardens
Class 4: Container plants – plants under 6” diameter
Class 5: Container plants – plants with 6”-10” diameter
Class 6: Container plants - plants over 10” diameter
Class 7: Topiary
Class 8: Mounted specimen
Class 9: Decorative containers (must be handcrafted)

DIVISION II – VEGETABLES
Class 10: ABEYANCE VEGETABLE (3 standard bunches constitute an entry) Mustard, Turnip greens, Bank radishes, Collards, Green onions
Class 11: PLATE VEGETABLE (displayed on large white paper plates) Beans (12 pods), Cucumbers (6 fruit), Eggplant (3 fruit), Okra (12 pods), Peas; Southern (12 pods), Peppers; sweet, bell, hot (6 fruit), Squash (6 fruit)
