JUNIOR MARKET TURKEY SHOW
SPECIAL RULES

RULE 1:
All entries in this department are subject to the General Rules of the Harris County Fair and the Special Rules of the Junior Livestock Show.

RULE 2:
All birds must be ordered and paid for by mailing required money to the Harris County Fair, # 1 Abercrombie Drive, Houston, Texas 77084.
Orders must be placed in multiples of five (5) per family. Money orders and checks should be made payable to the Harris County Fair. See Important Dates.

RULE 3:
All birds must be picked up at a time and place to be determined by the Fair management. See Important Dates.

RULE 4:
All entries will consist of one (1) turkey; Tom or Hen . One entry per exhibitor.

RULE 5:
All entries will be sifted for quality. Only two (2) birds per carrying cage will be allowed in sifting area. Each exhibitor must remove all extra birds from the judging area after the first round of judging.

RULE 6:
This is a carrying cage show.

RULE 7:
All litter, feed, and care must be provided by the exhibitor.

RULE 8:
All judges’ assistants or helpers will be appointed by the Division Superintendent or authorized Chairman.

RULE 9:
Only birds with Harris County Fair wing bands that were assigned to the exhibitor and/or the exhibitor’s family will be allowed to show.

RULE 10:
All sifted birds must be removed from premises. Anyone caught dumping birds, or leaving birds, will be barred from future shows. See Rule 3 of General Rules and Regulations.

RULE 11:
No exhibitor, parent, 4-H Leader, AST, or CEA will interfere with the judge before, during, or after the judging.

RULE 12:
Sifting Birds – up to two (1) adult / 1 exhibitor allowed to hold birds during sift.

RULE 13:
Showing birds for Judging – Junior Exhibitors only

RULE 14:
Top ten (10) Turkeys will go to Live Auction, unless in conflict with Rules #two (2) and three (3) in Jr. Auction Special Rules.

RULE 15:
The turkeys that do not go to Live Auction are to be removed from the Fair Grounds immediately after judging by the Exhibitor. The Live Auction Turkeys are to be moved to a designated area by completion of show. The Live Auction Turkeys are to be taken home by the Exhibitor after the completion of the Live Auction.

RULE 16:
All birds need to be harvested according to Texas Animal Health commission: Due to a recent clinical outbreak of Laryngotracheitis (ILT) in some backyard and commercial poultry shows this year. An Animal Health Commission representative may be contracting your County Shows officials to make this request.

Class 1 – Turkeys
Class 2 – Grand Champion
Class 3 – Reserve Grand Champion
