HARRIS COUNTY FAIR WELDING CONTEST
GENERAL RULES

RULE 1:
Cost per Team = $20.00

RULE 2:
Three (3) Students per Team

RULE 3:
Unlimited Teams per School per Levels

RULE 4:
Pre-registration is required by September 17, 2010.
Checks payable to:Harris County Fair One Abercrombie Dr. Houston, Texas 77084
* Late Registration at time of contests is $40.00 per team

RULE 5:
Contest Day – Friday, October 22– 8:00 am

RULE 6:
Appropriate Safety Items must be brought by the Students
Safety Glasses Welding Gloves Welding Hoods
Safety Shoes Safety Clothes Holding/Clamping Devices

RULE 7:
All Electrodes / Metal Plates are Provided

WELDING CONTEST – LEVEL I
Level I – Beginner/Beginning Welders
1. First Year (Beginning Welders) will perform a (2-F position) *SMAW – Shielded Metal Arc Welding
2. 1 bead will be done with Stick Welder
3. 1 bead will be done with Mig Welder
4. Use a 6010 Electrode = one pass
5. Use a Mig = one pass
6. Ten (10) minutes to complete both sides
7. Scoring will be classified as a Trying Group and a Completed Group
8. All Grading will be done by Certified Welders

WELDING CONTEST – LEVEL II
Level II – Advanced Welders
1. Advance Welders – Open Butt Weld with thirty (30) degree bevel
2. Use Mig performing a root / fill / cap
3. Advance Welders – Open Root Weld using an E6010 to fill
4. Fifteen (15) minute time limit

WELDING CONTEST – LEVEL III
Level III – Master Welders
1. Master Welders – Use Tig on Stainless Steel and perform 2F Flat Position /with 1 bead
2. Master Welders – Perform (SMAW) Pipe to Plate Flange
A. Four (4) inch Pipe to a six (6) inch flange – Weld root pass all the way around – Use E6010
B. Filler / Cap – Use E 7018 3/4 of the way around
C. Cap Pass (Final Pass) 6-12
D. Twenty (20) minute time limit
