FOOD SHOW
SPECIAL RULES
RULE 1:
For judging purposes, all food entries MUST be accompanied by a typed or printed recipe on a 5x7, or smaller, card
attached to the item. Name of recipe must be on the front of the card and EXHIBITOR NAME ON THE BACK OF
THE CARD. ALL FOOD IS JUDGED ON APPEARANCE, COLOR, TEXTURE, AND FLAVOR OF THE FOOD
ONLY.
RULE 2:
Entries WILL be displayed on disposable plates and covered with a see-through top (plastic wrap securely fastened,
commercial plastic, etc.). ABSOLUTELY NO CONTAINERS WILL BE RETURNED.
RULE 3.
All food entries must be non-perishable (no refrigeration needed).
RULE 4:
Preserved foods MUST be in standard-made canning jars with standard lids. They must be labeled on the side of the
jar with the content name and the date of canning, which must be this Fair year.
RULE 5:
A display of small items such as cookies, biscuits, rolls, candy, etc. must contain a minimum of six (6) items.
RULE 6:
The Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, and all Silent Auction Items in the Food Show WILL BE
REQUIRED to make a FRESH FOOD for the auction. The Home Economics committee will try to contact all
exhibitors who have food items that have been selected to go to the Auction. It is the EXHIBITORS
RESPONSIBILITY to find out whether their food is going to the Auction. If the Exhibitor has not contacted the
Home Economics Committee by 7:00 p.m. Friday, that food item will be pulled from the AUCTION.
CLASSES
CLASS 1: COOKIES
Suggested entries: brownies, bar cookies, drop, refrigerated, rolled, cut out, etc.
CLASS 2: CAKES
Suggested entries: layered, cup cakes, bundt, etc.
CLASS 3: PIES
Suggested entries: Fruit or double crust (not needing refrigeration).
CLASS 4: BREADS
Suggested entries: muffins, coffee cake, loaf, etc.
CLASS 5: CANDY
Suggested entries: fudge, divinity, brittle, etc.
CLASS 6: PRESERVES
Suggested entries: fruits, vegetables, jellies, etc. |
